Created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel for DC Comics, Superman was the first comicbook character to embody the traits that we now associate with the modern superhero. Phrases such as "faster than a speeding bullet" were used to describe Superman, and are now fully absorbed into our pop-culture. The stories of Superman have been depicted in comicbooks, TV series, and movies for years. Currently, the Superman-based TV series Smallville airs and fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the new Superman movie.
